Award‑winning wildlife biologist Jim Williams takes us on an illustrated journey across the transboundary Rocky Mountains and South America’s Patagonia, revealing how large carnivores and wide‑ranging species depend on connected landscapes. A 31‑year veteran of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and recipient of The Explorers Club’s 2024 Alan Rabinowitz Memorial Award, Jim now advances private‑land conservation with the Heart of the Rockies Initiative. His stories of grizzly‑bear monitoring, Montana’s first wolf program, and current “Keep It Connected” projects illuminate practical pathways for safeguarding wildlife corridors from the Northern Rockies to the Southern Cone.
The Trinity River Audubon Center, located in the heart of the Great Trinity Forest, serves as a living testament to the power of conservation and ecological restoration. Once an illegal landfill, this 120-acre urban sanctuary has been transformed into a vibrant ecosystem supporting native wildlife, educational programs, and sustainable land use.
As the Texas Chapter of The Explorers Club, our mission to foster scientific exploration, conservation, and meaningful connection to the natural world aligns closely with the Center’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Hosting our event at this remarkable site not only supports local conservation efforts but also reflects our shared commitment to protecting natural spaces and inspiring the next generation of explorers.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there,
The Explorers Club – Texas Chapter
