The challenge of engaging with citizens is encountered by countless projects, initiatives, organisations and governments as we attempt to grapple with some of the most pressing issues of our generation. In an oceans context, citizen engagement is crucial given the important role our oceans play in addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. In this context, BlueMissionAA is working to identify and highlight best practices in citizen engagement, and this workshop session will provide insights from our research. We will talk to a range of practitioners and project coordinators who have coordinated citizen assemblies, workshops, and citizen science initiatives both in an oceans and biodiversity context, with the aim of harnessing some of their learnings and discussing how their best practices may be implemented in a Mission Ocean context. This session will be interesting and useful for practitioners, coordinators, policy makers, and scientists alike and we warmly welcome you to attend.
