The side event āMaking Disability Visible During Humanitarian Crises, including armed conflict, climate change and Natural Disastersā aims to:
Highlight the needs of persons with disabilities during humanitarian crises
Raising awareness, identifying people with disabilities and assessing their needsĀ
Encourage governments, humanitarian organization and stakeholders to adopt disability inclusive approaches in their humanitarian action plans
Advocate for increased funding and policy changes that prioritize disability inclusive humanitarian response strategies
Foster partnerships between international agencies, local organization and community led initiatives to address the Human Rights of people with disabilities
Share lived experiences of persons with disabilities
Present best practices from countries creating inclusive emergency plans
Make visible the people with disabilities who cannot escape conflict zones
Make the professionals who work in group living facilities (institutions) aware of their responsibilities and work with them to draw up plans to protect the people in their care
