Romanesque Stitch books are a beautiful and unusual exposed-spine books. The workshop instruction is based on Shereen LaPlantz’s description of the binding in Bound and Lettered magazine. Romanesque Stitch books open flat, which makes them perfect for sketchbooks, cookbooks, guest books, journals. In this workshop, we will make a book, approximately 5 ¾” x 7” with boards covered in decorative paper and containing a text block of 158 pages of 80 lb. Mohawk Superfine eggshell paper. The main focus of the instruction will be the Romanesque Stitch and as such, basic bookbinding information will not be given much attention. For this reason, the workshop may be more approachable for those with some bookbinding experience. That being said, beginners are more than welcome
