If there are events that clutter your calendar view and you'd like to hide them, here are 3 options that could meet your needs.
Here's a neat aspect of the Filter Events by Keyword function: you can use a dash in front of a keyword to exclude events which contain that keyword. Below, all sub-calendars are on (so all events are visible); by using "-DNA" in the keyword filter, any events containing the term "DNA" will be hidden from view.

There may be events which you need to have accessible for certain tasks (e.g. monthly reports or performance review), but don't use on a daily basis. For these events, create a sub-calendar as an event archive. Move the events to this Archive calendar; then hide that sub calendar until you need to review the archived events.
You can set up a custom event field to represent the status, type, or category of these events. Set this as a required field to ensure all events are categorized. Then you can use the custom event filter to show only events with the relevant status or category, as needed. See here for more on how custom event fields can be useful for tracking workflow in general.
