🇺🇳 In Person (UN Headquarters)\n---\nShort Description: This event s
eeks to recognise and celebrate the gains made to ensure women with disabi
lities enjoy rights\, as well as to provide a platform for reflection on p
ersistent challenges\, with a particular focus on intersectional discrimin
ation. Although the CRPD applies to women with disabilities in all their d
iversity\, those belonging to structurally excluded communities face compo
unded discrimination arising from the intersection of ableism\, patriarchy
and other structural inequalities related to race\, caste\, class\, age\,
indigenous status\, sexual orientation and gender identity\, among others
. Drawing on its mandate\, the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Dis
abilities has\, through its country review processes\, consistently identi
fied gaps in the effective addressing of multiple and intersecting forms o
f discrimination. In response to these challenges\, the Committee is curre
ntly developing Guidelines on multiple and intersectional discrimination a
gainst women and girls with disabilities\, which aim to further guide Stat
es Parties and other duty bearers to address the implementation gaps and t
o collect a repository of good practices. Against this backdrop\, this Sid
e Event will provide a platform for dialogue among Member States\, United
Nations entities\, civil society\, and other stakeholders to examine pathw
ays for advancing intersectional implementation of the CRPD.\n---\nEmail:
