Schedule: Feb 27, 2021 — 9am - 11am (PT);
10am - 12pm (MT); 11am - 1pm (CT); 12pm - 2pm (ET)
In this class, students will learn to bind a Japanese Multi-Section book according to traditional aesthetics and techniques. In this binding, signatures are sewn through slits cut in the spine using a multi-needle method that allows the book to open flat and the thread to remain invisible at the spine. Emphasis in this class will be on cover and text block preparation, sewing, and finishing techniques.
Students in this class will be provided with a descriptive handout and materials list in advance of the class to allow students to bind along with the instructor during the demonstration.
