Africa has become in recent years one of the most affected areas in the world by terrorist attacks. A strong and collective response is needed to counter this threat of unprecedented magnitude that requires new approaches and innovative tools, which can contribute to face more effectively this cross-border security challenge. In this context, France and Côte d’Ivoire established the Académie Internationale de Lutte contre le Terrorisme (AILCT) in 2019 in Jacqueville, Côte d’Ivoire. Since its creation, the Academy has been acknowledge as a reference centre designed to support African countries in capacity-building and interministerial capacities to counter terrorism. The side-event offers an appropriate opportunity to promote the innovative and partnership-based approach of the project of AILTC. Discussions will consider how the Académie’s internationalization could promote an effective and durable tool in our collective fight against terrorism and explore possible synergies with the UN system.
