Importing data versus syncing with iCal feeds

There are two ways to view events from other calendars in Teamup: Import via CSV file or sync via iCalendar feed. 

These two methods are very different:

Importing via CSV is a one-time transfer of data from a third-party application to Teamup. It does not offer ongoing synchronization.

Inbound iCalendar feeds provides an active one-way synchronization, meaning that Teamup periodically fetches the latest feed content and updates the calendar. 

Import via CSV for a one-time data transfer

When to use import via CSV:

• If you're moving from Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or a legacy tool and want to import years of past events into Teamup.
• When you want to import a fixed set of dates (such as holidays, employee birthdays, or past attendance logs) that will not change later.
• If your workflow requires adding 50–500 events in one batch (e.g., class schedules, event rosters).
• If you want to store historical event data in Teamup while the source calendar continues to be used independently.

Set up an iCalendar feed for ongoing sync

When to set up an iCalendar feed:

• When you need automatic updates from another system (Google Calendar, Outlook, CRM, booking platforms, etc.) in Teamup. 
• When the source calendar is maintained by another tool but team members need to see it in Teamup.
• When a manager needs visibility across several staff calendars without manually re-entering the data.

• If you want to subscribe to public or partner feeds that update regularly.
