The Giraglia Rolex Cup is the most prestigious regatta in the Mediterranean and part of the Rolex series. The regatta has been held annually since 1953 and begins from Saint-Tropez (France) to the historic Italian port of Genoa (Italy). This year, the regatta will commence on the 10th June with 3 days of inshore racing around marks in the bay of St. Tropez before the 243nm offshore race to Genoa, finishing on the 15th June.
The stunning scenery of St Tropez is the perfect back drop for the Rolex sponsored shore side hospitality and glamorous crew parties.
Every year, the regatta has up to 220 yachts from 30ft. – 90ft, competing in the inshore and offshore race series. We are entering our X-Yacht 46 ‘Impulse’, she is fully equipped for inshore and offshore racing with a full suit of racing sails. New sails in 2017 include: No.1 Aramid Laminate Jib, No.2 (3DL style) and a Code Zero which is a critical sail for this type of offshore race. Whilst ‘Impulse’ is big enough to offer exhilarating performance, she is still small enough to be really engaging to sail.

Homeward Travel from Genoa
Allowing some contingency, we expect to arrive in Genoa by lunch time on the 15th June, although the precise timing is of course highly weather dependant. Those in a hurry to get home may have the opportunity to fly by the evening of the 15th June at the earliest. However, we would suggest that flying from Genoa on the 16th June would be a safer option. The prize giving and regatta party are scheduled for the evening of the 16th and of course Genoa is a beautiful Italian town with lots to explore if you do plan to stay for an extra few days.
Alternatively, we will be sailing ‘Impulse’ back to Sardinia with an expected departure date of the 17th June with an expected arrival in Portisco by the 19th June. All Rolex Girgalia Regatta crew are welcome to stay onboard for the delivery at no extra cost.
