Weâre âbranchingâ out for this semester of Socialist Night School â holding our third session on âWhat Is Socialism?â four times, in collaboration with each geographic branch.
âWorkers of the world, unite!â This introductory session goes back to the beginning to discuss what democratic socialism meant to Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, starting with The Communist Manifesto â and then jumps forward to learn how latter-day Marxists like Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor have contributed to to our understanding of capitalism and the fight to change the world.
*** We'll discuss the readings linked below in small and large groups (but don't worry if you don't have time to get to the readings!) There will be free food provided, with a break in the meeting to eat, socialize, and talk to comrades. There are multiple restrooms that are gender-neutral. The meeting room is located in the basement; the door is located on the west side of the building, along LeMoyne. The location is not fully accessible, but is being refit to allow full access.
