Unusual Accordions with Stephanie Wolff (Online)

Schedule: Apr 8, 2021 — 5pm - 8pm (ET);
4pm - 7pm (CT); 3pm - 6pm (MT); 2pm - 5pm (PT);

Accordion books are most commonly rectangular, but they can be most any shape. In this workshop we’ll break from the rectangle and fold a spiral accordion, a triangular accordion, and a variation or two of a hexagonal accordion. We’ll discuss covers and wrapper options for these as well. This workshop focuses on the folding of paper to create the accordions. In a second related workshop, "More Unusual Accordions" (scheduled for Thursday June 17), three other forms will be presented: a pentagonal, an octagonal, and a circular/toroidal accordion. Each workshop is stand-alone and can be taken in any order. No advanced math is required.

Instructor and bio: Stephanie Wolff works with paper, text, textile, and the book form, with projects that explore themes of weather, history, and rural life, among other topics. Her artists' books are held in public and private collections, have been exhibited in the United States and Germany, and won awards. As a longtime teacher of book arts, she enjoys sharing her knowledge from many years in bookbinding, conservation, and fine arts. She has been a Helen M.
