Family life is a daily cocktail of emotions. It's intense, chaotic, vibrant. Our children feel loudly and authentically. No one needs to teach them that - they're born with it. However, over time, they learn that modern culture expects them to numb their feelings. They mainly learn this by observing and mimicking the adults closest to them. If we are not at ease with our own emotions, we create an environment of contradiction, confusion and mess in our families.
The real questions are:
How do we as parents create a safe container for our children so they can be themselves? Change starts with us. Perhaps you're already doing emotional work, but what's next?
How could you do it with your children? How do you give more space for feelings in your family?
By taking your centre back and being the authority, you can be a source of creation, rather than reacting and adapting moment by moment to your child’s emotions.
This is a practical, experiential worktalk which will provide you with the tools to change your relationship with your children. It is a space for parents to learn to feel and have more clarity about what they are creating, consciously and unconsciously. When you know what you want, you will have children who know what they want. This is the beginning of a different culture for children, rooted in the values that lie at the heart of your family.
