In this workshop students will learn how to make a book using the deceptively simple drum leaf binding. This binding is made entirely using adhesives, allowing full spread images without sewing through the pages. This workshop would be perfect for printmakers or paper artists who wish to turn existing works on heavy duty paper into a finished book.
Level: Intermediate—some previous bookmaking experience is helpful but not necessary.

Instructor and bio: Aubrey Dunn is a bookmaker and printer living and working in Baltimore and Washington DC. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2015, where she earned a BFA in Art History, Theory and Criticism, with a concentration in Book Arts. She now balances her own studio practice with teaching and spreading her love of books and print. She found her way into artists’ books after falling in love with the way that making a book was the perfect combination of structure and creativity. When she’s not in the studio you can probably find her drinking copious amounts of espresso and planning her next travelling adventure.
