The Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature provides a new generation of global high-resolution sea surface temperature (SST) products to the operational oceanographic, meteorological, climate and general scientific communities. SST producers around the world provide these users with GHRSST formatted SST products using the common GHRSST specifications found in the The Recommended GHRSST Data Specification (GDS). SST products which use the common GHRSST format and specifications are deemed GHRSST compliant and are then accessible to SST users via the publicly available GHRSST Central Catalogue. This workshop session is intended for Sea Surface Temperature Data Producers, but also SST users who would like to understand more about GHRSST formatted products. The workshop will introduce the GHRSST Data Specification (GDS) including what it is, where to find it, why data producers should adopt it, and the evolution of the GDS. Benefits of adopting the GHRSST Data Specifications will furthermore be highlighted through perspectives from GDS users - the SST data producers - to showcase their experience in SST data production using the GDS and sharing this knowledge with other SST producers partaking in the workshop who may have not yet adopted the GHRSST Data Specifications.
