One of the most frequently asked questions by newcomers to debating is: do I need to be an expert? The aim of this class is to prove that being a novice is not a problem when planning a presentation - indeed it can sometimes be an asset.
Preparing for a live debate in front of an audience of strangers is a great example. You don't know what your opponent is going to say or what questions your audience are going to ask or even, in the case of our public debates, what side you are going to be on. How do you prepare?
This class will help you answer that question and in the process learn how to speed up your research, identify likely talking points, and equip yourself with all the information you need to be a credible speaker. By the end of the workshop, you will have planned and delivered a presentation on a topic assigned to you on your arrival in exactly the same way you would be expected to do it if your preparing for a live debate.
Lunch can be purchased from the restaurant but is not included in the price of the ticket.
