This space will include presentations, interactive exercises in small breakout groups and general questions and discussion.
This gathering will be facilitated by Dr. Yin Paradies, a Wakaya man from the Northern Territory in Australia.
Yin is an embodied ecological and social activist, living in the Moora Moora Co-Operative Community, where he cultivates a closer connection to Nature, and practices down-shifted collective sufficiency, voluntary simplicity, frugality, direct democracy and radical localisation. He is also Professor of Race Relations at Deakin University, conducing research on racism and anti-racism as well as teaching and researching Indigenous Knowledges and the theory and practice of Decoloniality. In his activism and work, Yin seeks an understanding of the devastating impacts of modern societies, and the meaningful mutuality of an embodied kinship with all life through transformed ways of knowing, being, and doing that are grounded in wisdom, humility, respect and generosity.
This session is for all humans, regardless of family history, ecology, ancestry. It invites an exploration of our personal indigenousity, and the unapologetic understanding that we are all exposed to many forms of colonialism.
