Messiah Lutheran Church is gearing up for a festive celebration with its 25th Annual Ring and Sing Concert on December 10, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. This free event, known for its mix of festive Christmas vocal, instrument, and handbell musical works, has become a community favorite over the years.
The concert features works by Messiah’s Notabella hand bell choir. A favorite tradition is the portion of the concert where carols are sung and chimes are played by those attending. According to Dr. Rhonda Gaede, its long-serving director, the first Ring and Sing Concert was suggested to MLC by a member who enjoyed similar concerts at her former church. It also gives Randall Fields, MLC’s Music Director and Choir Director an opportunity for Messiah’s musical groups to present music outside of what’s typically planned for advent worship.
The event is also a celebration of the church's rich musical legacy that continues to enhance MLC Sunday services of worship with high quality musicians and musical instruments and its outreach programs such as Messiah Music Camp and the Music at Messiah Classical Concert Series.
Free will donations at the door support the Madison Public Library as has long been the tradition. The evening will conclude with a cookie reception in the Fellowship Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend, so grab a friend and wear your favorite Christmas sweater. Information can be found on MLC’s website at www.mlutheran.org
