Have you ever started a piece of art and not finished it? Or, have you ever created a piece that didn’t turn out the way you had hoped it would? I know I have. When I look through piles of old work, I always find pieces that have sections that are done really well but are surrounded by areas that were much less successful. So I have started “rescuing” sections of old work and using them to create new work.
● I cut out these “good” sections and further cut them into strips or pieces.
● I then create a background for the new piece by selecting a color and how I will apply it to the background.
● I also create a contrasting sheet of color that I can splice into my old work.
● Finally, I use the process of Collage to arrange the strips or pieces of my rescued work with strips or pieces of my contrasting color on my new background and voila, a new piece of art is born.
This might sound complicated, but it’s really not and I will be there to guide you through the whole process and answer all of your questions. I will also provide you with samples of works that I have created with this process and a step by step power point to guide you along as well. I think you will be amazed at how stunning the resulting works of art are!!
You will need:
● 2 or 3 old pieces of art that you don’t mind cutting up; any style, any subject, any medium.
● Scissors
● Glue
● 2 different art mediums for painting the background and contrasting sheet of color such as;
acrylic and/or watercolor paint, markers, pastels, crayons, etc. (Oil paint is not recommended for this project.)
