We will make a charming box using ages old Cartonnage techniques online via Zoom. The Neverending Rolling Box is a puzzle and a toy as well as a box. To see how it works, click to watch this video. You will need some basic tools, plus materials can be ordered. You will need: self-healing cutting mat, scissors, exacto knife or snap-off carpet cutting knife, ruler, Elmer’s Glue or PVA glue, glue brush, sharp pencil, magazine or other gluing surface, wet wipes, bone folder or popsicle stick. A pre-class letter will be sent by Nancy.

Instructor and bio: Nancy Akerly is an artist passionate about everything paper: origami, nontraditional paper folding, box making (cartonnage), bookbinding and paper marbling. She was born on the Southside of Chicago and raised in a northern suburb, Nancy spent her summers on her grandparent’s farm in Sister Bay,WI, working in their family cherry orchard. She got her first teaching job at Sister Bay School - after teaching in Europe for DoDDS for a few years she returned to Door County and achieved a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on Gifted and Talented Learners and Creativity. She taught 39 years and retired from Gibraltar Schools in 2010. She then focused my energies on the business she had begun several years before, Liberty Grove Paper Arts.
