In June 2012, Osceola County purchased the Cherokee Point Conservation Area with funds from the Environmental Lands Conservation Program, formally known as SAVE Osceola. Located west of Canoe Creek Road and Kissimmee Park Road at the north end of Cherokee Road, the property consists of 183 acres hugging the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga, in the serene Goblet's Cove area.
The property protects picturesque wet pastures and an upland peninsula. Observe restoration efforts for the marsh and upland. A boardwalk trail leads to a covered picnic pavilion at the lakeshore. There is a a canoe/kayak launch, large picnic pavilion, children’s play area and a catch and release fishing pond. This site is frequently visited by wildlife, especially a variety of bird species, such as the endangered Everglades snail kite, Sandhill Crane, Bald Eagle, Limpkin, white pelican (winter) and several waterfowl species.
