Similar to a Coptic binding, the paired station binding has an exposed spine featuring a decorative sewing. With multiple sewing stations along the spine, the paired station binding can be used to sew sections or gatherings of pages, as well as single sheets. In this 3-hour virtual workshop, learn how to make a paired station binding using a combination of sections and single sheets with a soft paper cover. Traditional Coptic bindings, thread variations, and methods for adding boards to make a hardcover binding will be discussed.

Instructor and bio: Rosae M. Reeder is a Book Artist / Printmaker and teacher of many things Book Arts and Printmaking. Living, teaching and constantly making in Philadelphia, Pa. She received her MFA from the Book Arts/Printmaking program at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her work combines various alternative photographic processes, digital collage, traditional printmaking media such as Letterpress, Lithography, Monotype along with book structure. The imagery and content of her work is that of reference and reflection. A moment remembered, a time almost forgotten, a thought process evolved. Her work has been exhibited in many centers for the book and multiple galleries across the country and internationally.
