Learn how to make a soft-cover journal using the long stitch. This book structure binds the pages and cover directly together, eliminating the need for any glue. You will also learn some of the many possible variations to this stitch, making it highly decorative. This is a fantastic book making foundation for more complex stitches, especially if you are interested in binding with leather. All levels welcome!
Registration closes September 8, 2020 to allow time for students to purchase their materials.

Instructor and bio: Aubrey Dunn is a bookmaker and printer living and working in Baltimore and Washington DC. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2015, where she earned a BFA in Art History, Theory and Criticism, with a concentration in Book Arts. She now balances her own studio practice with teaching and spreading her love of books and print. She found her way into artists’ books after falling in love with the way that making a book was the perfect combination of structure and creativity. When she’s not in the studio you can probably find her drinking copious amounts of espresso and planning her next travelling adventure.
