This presentation will look at dominant Covid-19 narratives operating in mainstream UK government and policy discourse, and on varying media platforms, and at counteracting narrative responses to Covid-19. It will also examine some counteracting narratives arising from ongoing research with people living with HIV, on their responses to Covid-19. The presentation will explore how dominant and counteracting narratives are structured around or against crisis and in relation to curves, numbers, silence and noise; and how counteracting narratives invoke rights and solidarities, and relate to opposition and alterity.
