“On Monday, February 25th at 12:30 pm we need a work party of preferably a mix of men and women, to tear down the greenhouse at the demo garden, salvage usable parts which can go to Three Rivers via Billie Bevers (such as racking) and behind the extension office. What cannot be salvaged, will go via truck/trailer? to Waste Management landfill. Bring gloves, eye protection and whatever tools you need to perform the task. Bob Overholt is in charge of this operation, so if you have questions, please ask him. The greenhouse has outlived its lifespan and the ground is full of horsetail. Not enough light comes in through the top and the panels are brittle. Dump fees are reimbursable using reimbursement forms at the Extension Office. (Keep your receipt(s) and see me for approval signature.
We will plant a straw bale garden and small hoop house on the demo site this Spring. Looking for helpers on this as well. Bob Overholt is spearheading the new projects, so we will want to assist him in any way we can. Hopefully, we can pour a concrete pad using rebar and concrete bags and a wheelbarrow to pour the new pad next spring with Deane Senter’s help. Then we would like to come up with a new, small replacement greenhouse for the same location, using our imaginations to plan it for Spring 2020.
Lauri Baldwin’s husband has volunteered to restore the potting bench in the greenhouse and we will offer it for sale at the Plant Sale. Whooopie!!
All ideas are welcome regarding the design and materials for the new greenhouse, as we will be brainstorming and looking for funding as well.”
