11.00 - 13.30: Morning masterclass
13.30 - 14.30: Lunch break
14.30 - 16.30: Mock debate
16.30 - evening: Post-workshop social
The hardest part of a debate to prepare for is the reaction of the audience. You have no way of knowing what they really care about or what they think of your argument until they start asking questions or raising objections. On top of that, two years of data gathered from previous debates tells us that it is in this crucial stage that most debates are won and lost.
This workshop will show you how to work out what someone really wants to know when they put you on the spot and take you through a series of tried and tested techniques for responding to challenging questions and objections. It will, as usual, be followed by a mock debate in the afternoon in which you will have a chance to put your learnings into practice.
