Advancing Participation of Persons with Intellectual or Psychosocial Disabilities in Political and Public Life
This side event will focus on advancing the participation of persons with intellectual or psychosocial disabilities in political and public life.
Co-organized by UNDP and the Danish Ministry of Social Affairs and the Interior, and in partnership with Inclusion International and the UNPRPD MPTF, the side event will provide a platform for governmental representatives, civil society organizations of persons with disabilities, and UN agencies to discuss the issues facing persons with disabilities in political and public life and share good practices and lessons learned globally.
Further, the side event will present and discuss preliminary findings of UNDP’s recently developed practitioners’ guidance to be used towards promoting inclusive political processes and civic engagement of persons with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. The research is developed by UNDP in partnership with Inclusion International funded by a grant from UNPRPD MPTF.
