Join TLC in marching from Great St Mary’s on King’s parade on Saturday 30th at 6pm to protest the EHRC's new steaming heap of transphobic garbage. Let's make some Noise, Please
🌸💠🐻❄ Please get in touch if you'd like to make a speech! We expect speeches to centre on trans people and their lives: no political parties. 🐻❄💠🌸
🪧 Bring placards, water, snacks, masks and NOISE.
🚫 Please no SWP or RCP placards or newspaper selling.
👥 Arrive and leave in a group if at all possible. If you need a buddy, let us know – we may be able to arrange one for you. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask, for reasons both of health and anonymity. We will have masks to distribute.
🧭 We will start outside Great St Mary’s on King’s Parade, setting off at 18.15. We will march east down St Mary’s Passage, along Market Square and Petty Cury, north-west along Sidney Street, up to the Round Church. We will then march south along Trinity Street, to reassemble at Great St Mary’s.
♿ We will meet on the large flat area of pavement outside the church of Great St Mary’s, and return there at the end of the march. Some of the street surfaces are cobbled or otherwise uneven. We will move slowly to allow everyone to keep up. We'll have a first aider throughout the event. It will be loud! Unfortunately we do not expect to be able to arrange for a BSL interpreter to be present.
💡 Bring friends, water and snacks, and wear a mask for health and privacy. Try to arrive and leave in a group. You may also want to bring earplugs, as we aim to be LOUD. So bring anything you can make noise with! Drums, tambourines, whistles, trumpets, kazoos…
👮 Based on previous rallies, we expect minimal police presence, if any. This is a peaceful march. We will have a police liaison to speak to the police if necessary. We ask that you do not speak to the police, except to direct them to our police liaison, who has all the necessary information.
🚌 If you need funds for transport to the protest, we may be able to cover fares. We may also be able to provide sighted guiding from nearby transport stops. We can help you plan a route by public transport. Please get in touch if any of this would be helpful to you.
