Hazel WeaklyHazel spends her days building out teams of humans as well as the systems and tooling to make life better for others. She’s worked at a variety of companies and knows that the hardest problems to solve are the social ones. Hazel currently serves as a Director of the Haskell Foundation, as a Fellow of the Nivenly Foundation, and is fondly known as the Infrastructure Witch of Hachyderm (a popular Mastodon instance).
One of her favorite things is watching someone light up when they understand something for the first time, and a life goal of hers is to help as many people as possible experience that joy. She also loves shooting pool and going swing dancing, both as a leader and a follower.
Quintessence AnxQuintessence (she/her) has a background in conflict de-escalation, mediation, and community governance. She's focused on making safety the sustainable state—building processes that center humanity, prevent harm proactively, and create space for people to fully express themselves. As Executive Director of the [Nivenly Foundation](https://nivenly.org) and Head of the [Hachyderm Mastodon instance](https://hachyderm.io/about) she provides strategic direction, sets moderation philosophy, and leads teams building communities that prioritize quality over growth, democratic governance, and cultures where self-care and connection are complementary and protective.
This will be a Chatham House style discussion where we get together and discuss what’s worked and not worked for us in order to help make our foundations and communities sustainable.
As space and time allows, we’ll strategise together to write up a collaborative outline of methods that we’ve seen be successful. Experimental strategies will also be discussed.
