Sluice Pond and Flax Pond in Lynn will be chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicide targeting the control of nuisance aquatic vegetation and algae on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
The ponds will be closed to swimming, boating, and fishing until Thursday, July 13, 2023. Additional restrictions include a one-day restriction on livestock/domestic animal consumption, a three-day restriction on using pond water for drinking/cooking, and irrigation of turf/landscape ornamentals, and a five-day restriction on using pond water to irrigate food crops/production ornamentals/newly seeded turf.
Temporary signs that warn of the applicable water use restrictions, will be posted around the pond shoreline in advance of treatment. The work is being performed for the City of Lynn, under contract with Water & Wetland, LLC and pursuant to an Order of Conditions permit from the Lynn Commission and License to Apply Chemicals permit from MA DEP.
