Let's keep the pressure on the Insurance Industry to stop insuring fossil fuels! Join XR Manchester and friends for an action in the city centre as part of the XR National Insure Our Survival week of action.
Meet 11am in St Peters Square, M1 5AN. The theme for the action is 'Flooding', so please come dressed as if you are being evacuated from a flood emergency (life jackets, umbrella, sou'wester, wet weather gear, waders etc). Suggested slogans for placards: 'Insuring Our Future? More Like Drowning It!', 'Insuring Oil = Drowning Lives!', 'Stop Insuring Climate Chaos', 'Floody Hell', 'The Floods are Right Here, Right Now' - or feel free to get creative and make up your own!
Insurance is the Achilles Heel of the Global fossil fuel industry. It's what gives companies such as Shell, BP and ExxonMobil the confidence to drill as the planet burns - by covering their operations against financial losses when things go wrong. Without insurance, major oil and gas projects would not be able to operate.
