Benicians Adopting Benicia, (BAB) is sponsoring the 5th annual Memorial Day City Cemetery clean-up and Fallen Hero Flag Tribute with the support and supervision from the City of Benicia Parks and Community Services Department.
The clean-up will consist of light to moderate landscaping clean-up of the Cemetery, mostly light raking, removing small fallen branches and tree bark as well as weed removal. We will also place flags at the graves of our fallen hero's in preparation of Memorial Day
Refreshments: We’re providing lunch, snacks, and bottled water. You’re always welcome to bring additional non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. If you plan on sitting, bring a chair.
Date: May 10, 2025
Time: We will open registration at 8:00am, work starts at 8:30 and plan on finishing around 1-2 pm, including a supplied lunch. Join us for a few minutes or the entire day. We just appreciate your help.
Where: City Cemetery. 150 Riverhill Dr, Benicia
What to wear: sturdy, closed toe shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants, a hat and sunglasses are suggested
What to bring: gardening gloves, and if you have a rake, shovel, pitchfork, wheelbarrow or an old tarp or two are all great. (Please be sure your name is on your tools)
What not to bring: no power tools of any kind
What to expect: Please Park down on Riverhill Drive and we will shuttle you up to the cemetery. A table will be set up in the parking lot at the top of the cemetery for check-in.
The BAB and the City are providing liability and photo release forms to be signed for all participants.
A City representative will go over the clean-up that is needed. We will divide into small teams and areas for the clean-up. If you are limited on what you can do, please let us know so we can keep you in your comfort zone. Also, there are areas that are sloped and consist of uneven terrain.
The City will provide ADA compliant portable restroom.
