With digital technology evolving to address the multiple impacts of COVID-19, it can also be harnessed to prevent, alleviate, and end homelessness. Engaging technology in ending homelessness is vital in ensuring that recovery from COVID-19 is socially just. It can also accelerate achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Digital technology is instrumental in enabling unhomed persons to connect with family and friends, access health care, find jobs, experience empowerment, and locate information.
In this event, we will offer several perspectives about ways digital technology can alleviate or help end homelessness. A youth will provide their experience. We will hear from two digital technology companies about their means of using technology with regard to homelessness. Ideas about using technology to count homelessness (so that it can be addressed) willbe offered. And a speaker will discuss using technology to provide education to persons without homes.
