Content: Drawing on our work with colleagues in different countries, including in areas of conflict, refugee camps and detention settings, we will reflect on the many psychosocial and political issues arising from the Covid 19 crisis. We will share, in conversation, our own reflections on the personal, professional and ethical challenges this presents in our work in supporting humanitarian and human rights organizations, as clinical and social psychologists. Among other issues we plan to pick up on the following:
- Covid 19 on top of preexisting crisis realities: contextualizing the virus
- Fear and fear management: denial and conspiracy theories, stigmatization, the difficulties of finding out what is real
- The challenges of Aid Organizations: Protecting staff, helping beneficiaries while in shut down operational mode, dealing with impotence
- Some Recommendations: Enhancing physical distancing but strengthening social relationships
