Venue: Pyramid Atlantic Art Center
The art of making thread and using it to weave cloth dates back to the 7th-century in Japan. In this class, student will prepare papers to make shifu, or paper thread. Students will use rough surfaces and bricks, hand-held drop spindles, and spinning wheels to make the thread. The final stage is to weave a small piece of cloth with our hand-spun fiber. Paper thread can be used in knitting, weaving, crochet, and bookbinding.
