In this three-day workshop, you will create translucent sculptural pieces with handmade paper. You will first create an armature using willow branches and cloth. Then, layers of kozo or gampi fibers, plants from the Eastern papermaking tradition, are applied to the cloth. When the pulp is dry, the cloth is removed, leaving a strong, translucent paper wedded to the willow support. When illuminated from within, light exposes the unique textures and colors of the handmade paper.
