In this workshop students will spend the day learning how to process Western Red Cedar bark and local sedge, prepare it for weaving, weave a medium sized basket and have a completed basket by the end of the class to take home. Each student will learn how to traditionally process the materials and will learn four different weaving techniques plaiting, twine, 3-strand twine, a rim and how to make cordage. Class begins with a short talk on local Tribal history and family personal accounts; also a small display of traditional items pre- and post-contact.
