Wax nostalgic, wax poetic, wax philosophical and wax creative. In this workshop students explore methods of encaustic painting through the creation of books and journals. You will transform thin wood panels into richly layered, textured book covers. Participants will infuse papers with beeswax, imagery and words to become journal pages. Your collection will be bound into tactile books. They can be thematic, conceptual, or simply full of creative meanderings. The class will include demonstrations in encaustic, journaling and bookbinding (coptic and longstitch) to guide student’s experimentation. Open to all skill levels.
