Students in this workshop will draw on their personal history to inform and propel new creations. Spontaneity, improvisation, and experimentation will be central to your journey. Together we’ll explore strategies to get over the (sometimes) daunting hump of getting started. Using basic bookbinding techniques, students will construct personalized books and fill them with a variety of media (including painting, drawing, collage, and gel-medium transfers), personal narratives, and the unexpected. While our books will certainly be stand-alone works of art, we’ll build on their content to develop additional pieces during the week.
