In this one-day class, students will explore processes for creating sculptural forms in wet pulp. Working from cotton rag and overbeaten abaca fibers, we'll learn both loose pulp casting and laminate casting over carved surfaces and into moulds. Additionally, we'll build simple armatures from wire and wood and explore dipping and wrapping these forms in overbeaten pulp for different effects. We'll discuss the properties and applications for specific pulps for desired outcomes.
