The right paper loves to be folded, creased and bound, and this course is an integrated exploration of the two pleasures of accordions and folds, and where they intersect. Students will create intermediate folded structures such as a hardcover triangle pocket fold, Altered Winged Accordion, Designating Duet (a Claire Van Vliet Interwoven Structure), and the Hedi Kyle pocket fold, to hold all your creations and examples. Along the way students will learn or refresh their understanding of the fundamentals of folding and materials: (what makes a paper fold easily and stay), adhesives (what works best for accordions of all kinds), tools, vocabulary, and resources. Create five books during this fun-filled session to take home. We'll cover a wide range of possibilities for these structures tempting students with a love of paper and all the possibilities for future artist books of their own.
