Everyone loves these tiny necklace baskets twined with imported 4-ply Irish Waxed Linen. They are made upside down with an unusual starting technique. Choose from pre-made kits in many colors, including glass beads for the rum and tassel. Students will learn how to hold the spokes and weavers to achieve even tension, and how to make 2-ply cordage for the necklace cord. This class is challenging, but motivated beginners are welcome. The design for the beginners, shown in the picture, is called “French Checkerboard” (to see an example of this necklace click on link below).
Please bring a bag lunch. We have a refrigerator for storage.

With degrees in Forestry and Education from the University of Washington, she brings both ethnobotanical knowledge and strong teaching skills to her workshops. Kay encourages exploration of many types of materials and the technologies for their use. All her workshops are innovative and fun.
