Join Linnie Veilleux to learn the basics of weaving a cat-head basket using black walnut for the uprights and white oak for the weavers. Handcrafted splints from the hills of Tennessee will be used to construct this beautiful splint woven basket, giving it a lovely shadow effect.
Woven in the Shaker tradition over a wooden hand-turned mold, the basket will be finished with your choice of a hand carved fixed-handle, or a swing-handle, made of white oak. The basket size will be approximately 5”x 6”. Linnie will bring all of the supplies needed for students to complete this basket, including molds for use during this two day workshop

Linnie Veilleux has been weaving and teaching on the Olympic Peninsula for the past 20 years, running classes out of my Wits' End Studio, located in Kingston, WA. Whether it's working on new basketry designs, sharing knowledge of basketry, or attending and selling at farmer's markets in our area, her love of basketry keeps on growing. “I have been lucky enough to be mentored by a white oak artist so now my designs are growing. I hope to inspire others to expand on their creativity by learning something new and working with materials that aren't native to this area.
