In this workshop, we will build an Endless Tangle Book structure, also called an accordion book. While that is setting up and drying, we will cover the basics (and beyond) of Zentangle and how it applies to most any and all decorative art forms, from daily meditation through uses in fine art. On the second day of the workshop, we will learn to ribbon and add tangles to our Endless Tangle Book, as well as applying color and shading to the tangles. Basic paper cutting and gluing experience is helpful but not required.

Instructor: For as long as Charlotte Carpentier can remember she has had a curiosity and love of trying new things. She practiced many forms of art from an early age; learning to sew on her great grandmother’s treadle sewing machine, quilting and embroidering by hand, cartooning for her high school newspaper, making jewelry, and drawing her way through many countries while serving in the military. Besides being an artist on many fronts, Charlotte is a Certified Zentangle® Teacher CZT), valuing the way Zentangle pulls together all the other art forms. She specializes in teaching the Zentangle Method in individual and group settings, with an emphasis on creating art, even if you think you cannot draw. Her work has always revolved around people and improving lives, whether through art therapy, or various other helping professions and she has discovered that the patterns and repetition of the practice of Zentangle can provide one with a sense of calm and peace and happiness. Her website, CharKat’s Creative Insanity, https://www.charkatscreativeinsanity.com/, is a curiously curated collection of art supplies for enthusiasts of the Zentangle Method™ and Zentangle inspired art. Charlotte’s Blog is rich with information and examples of her work.
