Whether you're new to Book Arts or a long-time practitioner, this workshop offers opportunities to learn new concepts, as well as new techniques and methods for construction. Learn a versatile structure and explore options for layering media and ideas. Students will dye Tyvek to make a thin but strong concertina (narrow accordion) spine for their pages. These layered pages can be approached in a variety of ways to reflect each maker’s style and may incorporate mark making, color washes, paper cutting, windowed pages, or even pockets! Students will learn to create and attach a personalized hard cover.
Students can bring any of their own artwork on paper, collage, or fabric materials to integrate into the structure. Students will leave class with a unique finished artist's book and countless ideas for further iterations.
