Instructor: Melinda Collins Knick has a BA in Studio Art. Currently my focus is on paper and paper related artforms that have a specific narrative.
"I have been interested in fabric and fabric manipulation since childhood. In 1985 I had an opportunity to learn how to weave on a small Navajo type loom and I was hooked! Later I took weaving lessons from a Master Weaver in Northern New Mexico. I then sold my piano and purchased a custom made Rio Grande style “walking loom” for tapestry weaving. In 1998 I returned to school to get a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art. This opened many creative doors for me. I started to explore the possibilities of printing on fabric using a flat bed scanner to scan and manipulate my own color compositions. I continue to experiment using my own printed designs. My pieces are intended to be a celebration of color. I hope you will be moved to share in this celebration with me. I know there is a place in every home for a color explosion."
