Born and raised in California, Paul Sprawl has been playing guitar, singing and writing songs since he was a boy. His music uniquely combines percussive guitar techniques with bottleneck, tapping, harmonica and a baritone voice.
Some recent reviews of shows by presenters/promoters:
"Paul played an intense concert, blending playful with passionate, songs of the road with songs of politics, shorter with longer, and throughout showing a tremendous mastery of his voice and of his guitar. It was musically rich and intellectually challenging, and our audience gladly went deep with him."
(T. Kohlenberg) Boston, Mass
"Paul put on a fantastic performance for us this weekend. To say that his guitar style was extraordinaire would be an understatement. It was jaw-dropping. Check him out folks."
(D. Miskey) Edmonton, AB
"Paul is truly one-of-a-kind. If you like to watch and hear masterful performance of guitar and harmonica and storytelling - almost all three at the same time, Paul is your man. He may be singing, but he's always telling you a story. Think Bruce Cockburn with a serious twist. You'll hear "wow" more than once during the show."
(F. Snyder) Lutz, FL
"Paul Sprawl is an amazing performer, powered by a set of mysteriously talented fingers, and a solid, informed, world view which permeates his songs and playing. A true original in writing, playing and singing. At times evocative of Leo Kottke and Bruce Cockburn."
(C. Bernhardt) Richardson, TX
“Paul Sprawl walked into an open mic I was hosting in Black Mountain, NC about 10 years ago and after playing 3 songs proceeded to sell every person in the room a cd. This guy is a prodigy. One of the best I've seen. There are no loops, no backing tracks, just Paul Sprawl using his voice, his hands, a guitar, a slide and a harmonica. And he's a road warrior too.” (Ed Anderson) Bloomington, IL
